I always liked Lazy Town, and it's nice to see the driving motivation behind it. I am a big fan of advocates for healthier eating habits. America is plagued by one of the worst food cultures in the world, and unfortunately, we sell it to every other country we can get our greasy hooks into.

Frickin kids. What the hell is wrong with the youth today? Okay, maybe it wasn't kids, maybe it was grown-ass idiots. So I don't know if I ever mentioned it before or not... a month or so back some jackasses took BB shots at the van's window and some other cars on the block. The window has been sitting up in place cuz the windows are tinted. We haven't done anything with it cuz we aren't using it at the moment. I get home today to find out that more (or the same) jackasses came around and broke more windows. The back window is totally smashed in. Either they took a bat or big ass rock and smashed it. Our next door neighbor's car was on the street too and the back window is shattered. However, it looks like they threw the rock at it and it went in. Yeah, the rock is sitting there in their car. Hm, awesome. Can't believe that shit.

Anyway... work is going well. I'm enjoying it. I just moved cubicles. After I got all settled in! Haha, nah. It kinda sucks cuz I had a "window seat" (not really but on the inside). Now I'm on the aisle. I can feel the floor move as everyone walks by. Ew. I don't like it. It's time I make the place cozy. I need to bring in photos and stuff. What I should do is take my bath and bodyworks gift card and get some antibacterial stuff/lotions and leave it at my desk so I can use it.

Yea, I decided to clean out the keyboard at work cuz it looked nasty. It was fucking sickening. Seriously! There was like little hairs and shit in there. I just kept thinking "are those eyelashes or eyebrow hair? How the hell?" *shakes head* Yeah... now it's all clean. Too bad, now I'm thinking about bringing in my old keyboard so that I can have a split keyboard. I'm used the regular one, but I so prefer a split keyboard. It just works better for me. I love mine, cuz it's quiet. The older one is loud, though. I don't know. We'll see. I need to go and uh get a block of paper so I can put my monitors on top of it cuz it's too low. I need to get a cushion for my chair, too. That thing HURTS.

Okay, shutting up now. I think I might go watch some tv. Wait, I think my netflix came in today. Woo

cheap margaritas and damn good nachos = barragan's on a wednesday night.
i am a sucker for a big platter of nachos. tiny's ko bar in hollywood makes probably my favorite hole in the wall bar nachos but barragan's makes some pretty damn good ones. guacamole, chorizo, jalapenos, beans, sour cream, tons of cheese, freshly made chips...mmm. fat mexican kids dream. i tend to drown my nachos in extra sour cream. throw in a chilly strawberry margarita for $3.00 and barragan's is the place to be if you've got time to kill on a wednesday night.

the nachos at tiny's are a little more...white trash? tons of cheese, grilled steak, guacamole, jalapenos, sour cream, multi-colored chips...they're delicious.

i think i'm hungry now. hangover from last night is finally gone.

p.s. one of the waiters at barragan's does magic tricks, dances on chairs and is an absolutely amazing human being. he has this super thick spanish accent and a funny laugh. i love him.

May. 13th, 2008 @ 04:59 pm everyone, please, read this? only takes a minute and it means a lot.
So, basically, my sister's best friend in the world, Andrea Walker, has breast cancer. It's a rare form of cancer, and a huge tumor. The only treatment she can receive with any hope of helping her, is a research study through the University of Kentucky. She is only 32 years old, works full time, and has two young children, Hunter and Cassidy.

Anyway. This year we're doing a Relay for Life team in her honor. Relay For Life raises money for the American Cancer Society. Our team is called Andee's Angels, and we're trying to raise as much money as we can as quick as we can, cause the Relay For Life walk is June 20th.

It would be awesome if everyone on my LJ could donate even just $1. I'm putting up a button that allows you to donate right into my PayPal account. I'll take the money out via my bank account and add it into my final total. If you donate, leave a comment with your address, and at the end I'll send everyone a kickass thank you card and a mixed cd or something.

This means SO MUCH to my sister, and to my family. My grandmother is a breast cancer survivor, and we've lost a lot of family members to cancer. It's something that, sadly, touches the lives of nearly everyone. Like I said, even just $1 helps, but more is always welcome.

I hope some of you took the time to read this!

Early 1900's Victorian period. That was an easy answer. To bad I would be stuck living through WWI.

So, the price of food is skyrocketing. Chicken used to be affordable...not really the case anymore. I used to enjoy a london broil or porterhouse here and there, now, that cut of meat is getting to the range i wish not to pay since i am focusing on paying off my credit card debt. So, sirloin it is. Sirloin is most frequently on killer sales when you buy the "family" packs (freeze what you don't use, dur). I found an article written by a drunk-off-bourbon-professional-steak-eater that is fun to read, and learns you a thing or two about making the cheaper cuts taste like *drools*.

http://steamykitchen.com/blog/2007/08/28/how-to-turn-cheap-choice-steaks-into-gucci-prime-steaks/

And, to compliment that:

Or:

strawberries, sliced
one can of mandarin orange wedges (drain, keep juice reserve to the side)
bag of fresh spinach leaves

Mix spinach, stawberries and drained madarins together.

In a bowl, mix olive oil, basamic or wine vinegar, orange juice reserve, salt, pepper, minced garlic and some honey. Dump on salad. Eat.

On the crappy side of today, I got yet another blood test because they didn't draw enough last time for all the tests they needed to do. Thanks Sonora Quest. On the up side, my serum is ready and I start allergy shots on wednesday. I see the light baby.

This weekend, the Mister and I took a drive up into the mountains. Explanation, pictures and nazi propaganda later. (Note: Nazi anything is not funny in any shape or form, but it shows up in the most random of places) (You know, come to think of it, Hitler had a mustache, he was probably in the closet.)

So my step-brother's wedding was yesterday. It was a nice wedding. It was kind of weird because the pastor who was marrying them was just well..weird. He told my step-brother that the man was the head of house and basically had control over it, but than like back tracked so he didn't sound sexist. It was almost amusing. The bride was pregnant, and you could tell, but it's not like everyone wasn't excited about it and happy. I see no reason to be ashamed. It kind of made me think about how I want to get married someday. Daniel held me hand all through the ceremony and kept looking at me all sweet. It was adorable. Maybe weddings make guys and cutesy.

At the reception they served my boyfriend alcohol without question, but when I tried to get some they tried to card me. How stupid. Oh well, Daniel got the wine for me anyways, and after one glass I was buzzed pretty well. I was all up for dancing and was way more social. I am such a lush.

Today was a good mother's day for my mom I think. I saw her in the morning along with Dar's parents. I went to Lucky's with my aunt, her husband, my cousins, grandma(different one), and brother. We waited an hour to be seated. Lucky we sat at the bar and had sodas. I am so impatient usually, but I wasn't feeling so good from the night before and I have some digestion problems, and so I was pretty chilled. Food was good. I would have been just as happy with some KFC I think. Haha, that's almost hick-ish.

Daniel and I made pudding today. Well, it was instant and I made it mostly. =)

Checked my bank account. Nope, no stimulus money there. According to the handy dandy IRS site, I should have gotten it today.....but no. Go figure, they probably knew that I was just going to use it to pay my bills early and get 2 months ahead, and use the rest to pay down the CC and take a little driving trip somewhere. Jerks.

Work is crazy. I've been sitting in front of a computer hitting ctrl-v and ctrl-c all day. Haha, no. I do more than that but it seems like I do that a lot. I'm getting the hang of how to make the ecats (e-catalogs) and how to send it for review. I've only sent one on my own. Tomorrow I'll be able to send one in the morning. Then 4 of the same one later in the afternoon. That'll be nice. Yay. I'm broadcasting emails to a crapload of people. Haha.

My brother likes to say I'm a glorified secretary. Psh. This work isn't as hard as I thought it would be but it's still a lot of work. I think we're going to have a few more meetings to try and make it less work for me. Okay, not really work, but more so that I don't have to make decisions. :D

So my days aren't too bad. I get out when it's still daylight and it's a routine so yay. I might get sick of the routine but I think I'd rather get home early than stay at work late some nights and not have a life. Wait, I still don't have a life.

I think tomorrow is jean casual day. I'll probably still wear nice pants, I think I might wear the cute khaki capris that I bought last week. Yea, that works. Only problem about those pants is that I don't have shoes that really go with it. I wonder if my boots look okay with it. I doubt it, but I'll take a looksie tomorrow. I wish I could wear my pirate boots all day cuz those would be cute with 'em. Oh wait, I have to walk home from the bus tomorrow so maybe I don't want to do that, haha.

Okay, going away now. Laters.

May. 8th, 2008 @ 08:53 am Sometimes when you win at dinner, you lose at life
So last night we had some friends over for dinner, namely Tiffersman, Katieman and the Beeze. I decided to make it a junk food night since lately I've been playing around with curries and some more sophisticated meals when I cook.

So one of the items I prepared were the awesome sweet and sour veggie meatballs, but we were shoppng at super Target, and they don't have the fake meatballs I normally buy. I wasn't up for two shopping trips so I went with another brand. At first taste test before the gang came over I wasn't happy with the flavor of the new fake meat product with the old sauce.... so I decided to play around a bit and changed it up with some 5 spice, black pepper, and my secret weapon- a few dashes of HP. This without question changed the flavor and had a positive impact on the dish, but as I realized later, a negative impact on my stomach.

I don't regret the spicy meatballs, they weren't that spicy, and I have no one to blame but myself for choosing to consume so much of the sauce. I think I like the overall flavor of the original meatballs better, but I really like the spicy sauce on it's own, and I used it for a dipping sauce for other finger foods the rest of the night, thus sealing my fate.

So... I've been up since 5:30 - 6 am feeling like garbage and I'm actually taking a day off work because of it. If I didn't have these f-ing ulcers, I wouldn't be sick. I don't really mind it though to tell the truth, it's been a dogs age since I took a day off from work and actually stayed at home, so that part so far is kinda nice. Also the main product I've been spending most of my time marketing will be down today for maintenence, which would just stress me out if I were in the office today anyway. So here's to my successful spicy meatballs and my day off work, which I toast with imaginary champaign as I feel I might be vomiting soon.

Oh yeah- and strike two for the ancient chinese secret.

May. 7th, 2008 @ 03:10 pm "Stencha" Shot
So I've developed a love of Ito En tea products, and in particular, their "Sencha Shot". I drink a can a day, I slowly sip it over a long period of time, and I find it delightful.

What people on the internets have to say about Sencha Shot:

"I always like to take a sniff of the beverage before the first taste. I know it’s cliche, but my goodness this smelled exactly like someone’s gross feet! Just very strong and repugnant, like someone drew a mustache on me with a used, unlaundered sweat sock. The Dirty Gym Coach, we call that one. Tastewise, the foot metaphor is made whole."

"Some people call it 'full-bodied' or 'authentic,' but I have a more descriptive opinion…
I think it tastes like crap. Figuratively speaking, that is. Literally, it tastes (and smells) more like vomit. I couldn’t drink the whole thing (even though the can is only 6.4 ounces.) The terrible smell rising from the can sets the stage for a bitter green tea, which actually isn’t so bad once you’re drinking it."

"I tried this, it's pretty gross. It smells like spinach and tastes no better."

Until this beverage I've never really taken my co-worker's opinions into account when considering a beverage to consume on premises. All this changed yesterday.

A co-worker was leaning over me and my desk as we discussed at great depth some technical issues about one of the company's sites. In the midst of the conversation I noticed him sniff the air a few times as if he got a foul whiff and then, while looking at me, make a very strange face. One of those "someone needs to wash their ass" faces. Quickly, our conversation was over.

I had Pat come over and give me a sniff down to make sure I did not offend. He confirmed, as most days, I had a delightful, fresh scent (thanks DKNY). I was at a loss... then it hit me. I asked Pat to smell my can of Sencha Shot.. "Whoa, that's gross. That smells like BO. That's what it is."

So now, thanks to my delightful Sencha Shot beverage, someone in the office thinks I have wicked BO. I love the sencha shot, but I'll be honest, it stinks, it just never occurred to me anyone outside of a few inches from the can would be capable of taking in the aroma. It smells kinda like rotten, and the sea... which when your a girl isn't the best combination of scents for people to associate you with.

i'm a spoiled brat. i am. i have never had to hand wash dishes. i'd rinse them, the put in the dishwasher. 4.5 months of hand washing dishes, and not even all the time and....DRY HAND! *nurses crack at base of thumb* I lotion them, but my right hand is...ouchie. BOOOOO!

James is making drum stuff. I get giddy.

Had my last blood test yesterday and a chest x-ray today. Hopefully this is it. They switched my June appointment to May 12th, so hopefully (again) that will be the last of fun doctor time i get to have. The shingles blisters and gone now, i just have mostly healed scabbies left (ew). I'm still a rather sensitive pain wise to the touch, but this too will remedy itself in a matter of time.

Work is going swimmingly. Allergies are boogery.

Today my Da had knee replacement surgery. 3 hours later, he has a new knee and is resting up in the hospital until Friday. I'm glad that went nice and smoothly.

I'm pondering getting a DS Lite. I really want one, but i have better things to spend $129 plus games on. I wish they were cheaper used. Poop.

Mmm, glass of wine in bellah, time to hit the pillows.

I think it's time for a nap. I haven't been up before 6 am in a long time. Okay, I did it for inventory in January but at least I was done within like 7 hours or something like that. This time around, I didn't get out til 4 and started at 7. At least that's 9 hours of pay... at a better rate. Hah. So today was my first day at Zones. It was orientation day. It was pretty nifty. Some higher ups in the company came down and talked to us. Learned about Zones' and their history. Very interesting stuff. Then they started going into sales stuff so I bounced. Haha, nah, my boss came down and got me. So we worked on trying to get one of the catalogs that was supposed to go out today get out. That was fun. Learning is fun. I think I'll be able to handle it. Most of it is pretty straight forward. I just need to figure out how I choose which product to put where. The rest I can handle. If someone told me to plug this into that I would be cool with it. Tedious work, but at least it's getting somewhere. I'm in a cubicle. Makes me wanna call up Terri at Macy's and just say "that's what she said" and hang up. I think I might call and see if she's there tonight. I don't know. I need to sleep though. Oi.

Yeah. Brain is dead so bubbye for now.

Been busy with Quinne making this rockin' photo book. We've hit a lull but within a week or 2 (ie when I have gas in my fucking car) it should pick up again. I need to make a rhinestone encrusted eyepatch and find a place I can walk 3 pitbulls in 7" heels, topless, if that's any indication of how fucking awesome we are at life. I also had a tea party with a taxidermied deer head, in that <-- outfit. What else. Napa is next, and Santa Cruz keeps giving us gold, photo-wise. The naked wet chick in refrigerator is still my favorite so far. I still think we'll have this done and done by Fall.

Just wait.

I've been neglecting LJ partially due to it being Websensed and partially because the rest of the time it's not, I have already forgotten to check. Been spending most of my time in Awesometown, USA.

In other news, everyone's been bugging the shit out of me lately and I don't know why.

In other other news, I hope to have REALLY good news on the horizon. It may be a very distant horizon but the possibility that it may in fact be there, well shit. I'm into it.

cramps cramps cramps cramps cramps cramp omg cramps!

I'm not particularly fond of this time of month, nor the curling into a fetal position it causes, of the 2 days of eye-crossing migraines. Today i slept until 4pm. Wow, I definitely needed that! My head feels so much better and cleared out. I still have some pretty intense cramps, but mentally I feel rejuvinated. Finalllyyyyyyy.

Yesterday, James convinced me to leave bed to go get coffee and food. We ended up getting some nummy thai food then hitting up a mall. James got some new skinny ass pants (and wore them out of the store, then had every girl googling him, giggle!), i got a new smaller belt and cross-bone thigh highs. We found a puppy store (malls have those here, it's weird) and played with a baby (giant baby) st. benard that was retarded, then witnessed a retarded dobie pup. Yeah, puppy stores don't get exactly 'best of breed' apparently. We stopped at an actual game store where they sell actual board games. I bought the original old school edition of Monopoly because it had to be done, James got a new PS2 and 3 games. I decided at some point, i REALLY want a nintendo DS so I can get rayman raving rabbits 1&2 for it as well as other silly games. We returned home, i dosed myself with enough vicodin to take the edge off the pain (shingles are still bugging me too) and we sat and played Monopoly until...3am. I needed that, oh glorious glorious game. I think when we take a visit back out to VA, we will have to set up a drunken monopoly night somewhere, it NEEDS to be done. Esp. since i end up in jail a majority of the time playing that game :P

More coffee time and prancing around in my robe, there is nothing better than a lazy sunday!
